Can You Ever Win

Just wonder if life is really easy for some and others live everyday till they die in total hardship. I believe that all things come to those who wait, but what do you actully get when the waiting is over?

My life has had its ups and downs like everyone I’m sure, trust me this is no pitty party for me, most of the hardships that have come to me in my life are because of me. This is our life right or do we make our life weave around what other people want us to be, which really what kind of life is that. Pretending to be something your not everyday of your life must have some people in real hardship.

What is hardship anyway? What the heck is this crap? Why the heck I’m I writing this garbage? I have no idea….not sure where I was going with this I’m done for today. Thanks for reading this trash I guess I was venting or something. Who knows??

Pancake Day

Posted by psal | Posted in Family Life | Posted on 24-02-2009

Who doesn’t love pancakes and who doesn’t love watching people race down the streets flipping pancakes in a skillet? Today marks 60 years of pancake flipping in Liberal, Kansas. My day started out pretty early with my son waking me up and 5:20am to take him to the pancake feed. Adam my oldest is in Boy Scouts and they help out ever year with the feed. The rest of the family and I arrived to eat pancakes at around 9:30am and feasted on pancakes and sausage. I missed the races this year (busy at work) but this years winner twenty-two year old Tasha Gallegos won the International Pancake Day race in a record time of :57.5 seconds which shattered the old record set in 2001.

At around 3pm we gathered on main street to watch the Pancake Day Parade and watched my son Adam march with the Boy Scouts. This year he had the honor of carrying the American Flag.

Lost Without You

Posted by psal | Posted in Family Life | Posted on 24-02-2009

A poem I wrote to my wife during some hard times in our relationship.

I awake alone with you gone from my side, I close my eyes to drift back to a lonely sleep only to dream of you again and again. Images of holding you and kissing your beautiful lips and your voice telling me of your love for me. I hold you closer and closer then I awake again to find you gone once again. I only wish to sleep again to see your beautiful face and hold you once again. My life is LOST without you nothing in this world could make me run from you my dear love. We FIGHT and we LOVE we say hurtful things to one another and push and shove. My heart hurts from this pain inside only hoping and praying that we can survive. I’m just a man who knows what he wants and needs and my love for you will test the time before I die and truly sleep from your side and then my LOVE for you will still never be LOST as we kiss and I hold you in my arms.

Our History Is Our Future

Posted by psal | Posted in Movie Theater History | Posted on 20-02-2009

Have you ever have stepped inside an old building that has been closed for many years? There is something you can feel, the presence of time, memories and the people that walked those same steps and of course stories of life run through your head. You can hear the buildings speak of good times and the bad. It is a eerie feeling. I get that same feeling when I walk down the old Main streets of America peeking through the dusty glass windows.

To me it really seems unfortunate that we forget about the old buildings on our Main streets and there history. Main street represents your home and your town and the buildings placed there show how our community was formed. As companies try to improve by getting bigger and better, they are forced towards the outskirts of town to find building space, leaving our Historic downtown to slowly fade away.

Towns all over the United States need to realize that building up there Downtown District brings visitors and locals back once again. Big business in town from huge shopping centers & discount stores of course can hurt any small business competing in the same market, so unique shops, restaurants and theaters help hold the downtown together. It takes the whole community coming together to keep out BIG competitors and rebuild America’s downtowns and keep our streets booming with visitors.

Lost Wallet

Posted by psal | Posted in Family Life, This Sucks | Posted on 20-02-2009

Today started at around 4:30am with my son Keegan crying and my wife tellling me we needed some milk. So I was a little grumpy this morning (sorry honey) anyway the only place open was Wal-Mart of course, so off to box mart. Half asleep and milk in hand I headed home and fell asleep with my son on the couch. My oldest son Adam woke me up this morning around 7:30 and needed a ride to school, so I gathered up my things and got ready to leave, but something was missing MY WALLET!!!

So yes as I said before I was grumpy my day could not get any worse, I don’t know about you but when I loose my wallet (which seems to happen about once a year) I go crazy. I freak out not knowing where my wallet is and all the crap you have to go through to get your life back, because your life is in your wallet. So I rushed out the door to get Adam to school and then ran back home to search for my wallet, at this moment my wife was also looking. So back to Wal-Mart I knew that was the last place I used it and I had to at least see if someone was human enough to turn it in, and guess what It was found in the very checkout lane I had been at that morning. Oh yea by the way never put your wallet in your back pocket with a hole in it.
